Photo Shoot Faqs
What Is Your Cancellation Policy?
You may cancel and reschedule a shoot up to 48 hours prior to the photo shoot.
If you cancel a photo shoot and do not reschedule, you will lose your retainer.
What Is A Retainer?
A non-refundable retainer holds your date and time. It prevents me from booking any other shoots during your time.
When Will Our Photos Be Ready For Viewing?
Your photos will be ready to view, via a slideshow, two weeks after the session takes place.
Do You Have A Minimum Order Policy?
No. If all you want is a collection, that's fine! If you decide you'd like to order prints, photo albums, or more
slideshows I'd be more than happy to help you select the best prints for your home, scrapbook, or photo album!
Can We Substitute Something In Your Packages?
No. All packages are priced based on content and photographer's time.
You can, however, order individual pieces at an additional fee.
Do You Charge Sales Tax?
Yes. Taxes are not included in the prices listed.
South Dakota requires that I charge sales tax. Sales tax will be added to each order.
What Are Photo Shoot or Session Fees?
Think of sessions fees like creative fees. You are paying for the photographer's time to shoot your session, but included
in that fee is the time the photographer takes to edit your photos in the darkroom (proof), work on your packages, host your proofing
session, and deliver your completed order.
Session fees cover the photographer's time and are non-refundable once the shoot has taken place.
Session fees do not count towards the purchase of packages, prints, or other products.
Can You Give Us A Few Ideas To Make Our Photo Shoot More Personalized?
Definitely. And you can start by checking out my themes page.
Can We Include Additional People?
Yes. My packages include up to four people per session.
Each additional person photographed will require an additional fee.
What Happens If You Raise Your Prices Before After We Book A Session?
If my prices drop or raise before your session takes place, you are not bound to the new prices for the session you already
booked. You are bound to the prices you agreed to pay at the time of your order.
What Are Photo CDs?
Photo CDs contain high resolution .jpeg images of your favorite photos. These images will come with a non-commercial license
that allows you to reprint any of the photos on the CD-ROM at your convenience.
What Can We Do With The Images On The Photo CDs?
When I provide you with digital negatives (.jpeg images) you are NOT receiving the copyright to those photos. What you are
receiving is a license to print those images for personal use only. I, the Photographer, retain copyright to all photos.
Personal use means you can print them for distribution to friends and family, upload them to your website or blog, use them in
scrapbooking or other crafts projects, or use an image as an icon in chat rooms. BUT you cannot use them for advertising
purposes; allow others to use them in magazines, books, or newspapers; place them on products you intend to sell for profit, or
use them as stock photography. And you most definitely cannot claim copyright to them.
What Are Proofed Photos?
Proofed photos are not actual prints or digital prints for you to print later.
Proofed photos means you are viewing, via DVD, the best photos taken by Photographer. They are edited in the digital dark room and
include color correction and retouching of minor blemishes or in the case of farm shots, the removal of those
pesky black flies!
What Are DVD Slideshows?
DVD slideshows are videos that can be played on DVD players and computers. They are still photos put to action and accompanied by
music.
Do We Get To Pick The Music?
Yes. You can pick music from my growing selection of royalty free music.
Just let me know what genre of music you like and if I don't have it, I'll see what we can do about getting it.
Or, if you'd prefer, you can leave the music off the slideshow altogether.
Do You Do Wedding Photography?
No. I just don't want to bother with this type of photography.
Can We Hire You For Events?
No. Not at this time, but hopefully in the future.
What's Your Policy For Shooting On Location?
Shooting on location is very different from studio photography. On location photography requires the use of natural light and
everyday settings, whereas studio photography uses many wonderful gadgets to make sure you “get the lighting right” the first time
and staged backgrounds that make your photos look like they came straight out of a magazine.
What If A Location We Choose Costs?
The client is responsible for paying the photographer's admission and/or parking fees.
What Is Your Policy On How Many Photos You Shoot?
The number of photos depends on how the day goes: weather, lighting, willing participants, etc.
How Far Will You Travel?
As far as you are willing to pay.
For locations included in session fees, the locations must be within a 30 mile radius from Beresford, SD. Anything further would
require an additional fee due to gas prices, wear and tear on the vehicle, and time factors.
How Will You Interact With My Child?
The best photographs of children are ones of children simply being themselves and having a good time. That's why I
find it important to allow children to play, to allow them to get comfortable with me and the camera. I'll shoot off a few rounds
so your child gets used to me and the camera, then I'll ask him/her to pose.
