I am a mixed media artist and craft designer specializing in contemporary folk art and kids' craft projects.
As a stay-at-home, work-at-home, mother—and preschool teacher in a previous life—I've spent a lot time working with, and playing with, children. I understand the importance of using "arts and crafts" to teach skills, to allow self-expression, and to build self-esteem.
I understand that some craft projects aren't going to be as visually appealing as others because they focus more on learning valuable motor skills, increasing cognitive thinking, developing problem solving skills, and following directions.
Whereas art projects tend to focus more on the imagination, the technique, and the ability express one's self in a way words cannot.
I also understand that sometimes, parents just want to help their kids create something cute enough to decorate the home, or gift to relatives.
