Press Release Sample
Here is a sample press release I wrote for a new online education website back in 2007.

For Immediate Release

Website First To Offer Free Online Tuition Comparison Program

Austin, Texas, June 1, 2007—Distance Education (www.distance-education.org), a new resource website sets out to help college students make better financial decisions when it comes to choosing online education providers. The website, which took over six months to research, began in the mind of its founder, Benjamin Pfeiffer, nearly two years ago, when he discovered more and more online institutions were making it difficult to figure out exact tuition, materials, and school costs.

“The website was designed to help students get a better handle on the cost difference between attending college in person versus attending college online,” says founder, Benjamin Pfeiffer. “But that’s not the only reason the website exists. We’ve implemented many tools to help high school students, continuing college students, and adults seeking alternative careers find the perfect online education provider to meet their educational, personal, and financial needs.”

Distance Education is made up of four main departments: Tuition and Fee Information, Answers for Education, Reviews, and How-to Articles. Each department is designed to make researching online education providers easier while providing more accurate results.

“The Tuition and Fee Information department was designed to help college students find the most bang for their buck,” Pfeiffer continues. “In this area, students are able to compare education providers based on specific requirements such as type of degree (i.e. Associates of Arts, Bachelors of Science, etc.), field of study (i.e. business administration, criminal law, etc.), and costs (i.e. tuition fees, supplies and materials fees, etc.).”

The website also includes an “Answers for Education” department which was designed to offer honest feedback with near instant results. Not only will qualified professionals be on staff to answer questions regarding distance learning, but the system allows visitors to the website the opportunity to share knowledge based on personal experience.

“While the website may appear to be designed with the student in mind, we’d like to stress how important this website is for High School counselors,” adds Pfeiffer. “Many High School counselors can only recommend colleges based on brochures received and school conferences. But thanks to our review department, they can get a feel for each online education provider based on a preset list of questions.”

“Basically, students who’ve actually attended the institutions can leave comments about their experiences with the providers. An added bonus is the fact that online education providers can use the comments to improve the quality of their programs, thus ensuring a better quality of education over all,” continues Pfeiffer.

Finally, there is our “Article” department. All of our articles are written by experts in the field of online education. Each article is written to include expert advice on pressing issues in the online education industry, helping students understand college debt and student loans, and helping students get a better grasp on how to use their degrees more efficiently. In other words, how to survive in the real world once they’ve received their desired degrees.

As costs for education continue to rise and lifestyles become more cramped with to do lists and trying to stay afloat financially, resources such as Distance Education (http://www.distance-education.org) become an important staple in helping Americans in their search for something better.
